Photo by Dan Guarino Collectively known as Velvet Rose, singers Apryl Nebozenko from Broad Channel, Joanne Marnick of Rockaway and Melissa Biffer from Long Beach, reunited for two performances in late June at the Resorts World Casino at Aqueduct. The trio, popular on the Rockaway peninsula and elsewhere, formed about ten years ago, according to Nebozenko. While working on a three part arrangement of the song The Rose for a special occasion, “the moment we all hit that three part harmony, we heard this amazing ringing in the room. We stopped and looked at each other in amazement,” said Nebozenko. “The rest is history.” Although each has continued performing, this is the first time all three members have sung together on stage in years. Biffer, Marnick and Nebozenko also sang a wide range of duets and solo numbers and appeared with local singer/musicians Dennis Guiney and Dan Guarino.
