Rockaway Strong was on display as the annual Celebrate Rockaway parade stepped off from Redfern Houses on June 22. Locals united to show their pride in a community that had been through so much in the last year. Leading the parade was the Beach Channel High School Marching Band. In addition to area residents others who also took part were the Stop The Violence Stack Bundles Basketball Tournament, Da Rock All-Stars bike club, Stan’s Pepper Steppers, and Councilman Donovan Richards.

The march culminated at Bayswater Park on Beach 32nd Street where a bounce house, arts and crafts, food, a basketball game and McGruff the crime fighting dog celebrated the beginning of summer. The day was sponsored by the101st Precinct Community Council.
