Stick to it and stay healthy, happy, and energetic all summer long.

IN-SEASON FRUITS & VEGGIES: Eat nutritiously and save money by choosing fresh produce that is in-season. Blueberries, strawberries, cantaloupe, watermelon, figs, apricots, peaches, plums, cherries, limes, tomatoes, cucumbers, corn, and avocado are just a few foods that are most delicious during the summer months.

FLAT BELLY FOODS: Foods like almonds, grapefruit, eggs, kefir, quinoa, green tea, avocado, salmon, and extra virgin olive oil help build muscle and diminish cravings. In addition, kefir contains probiotics, which decrease bad bacteria in the intestines and reduce bloating. The monounsaturated fatty acids in olive oil and avocado help to burn belly fat, while salmon is packed with omega-3 and revs up the metabolism.

SUNSCREEN: Choose SPF 15 or higher for UVB protection. If you’re exercising or going in the water make sure your sunblock is water-resistant. For sensitive skin try a hypoallergenic option that won’t clog your pores. Be sure to reapply at least every two hours, and more frequently if you’re perspiring or getting wet.

LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER: Choose a moisturizing one with UV protection to keep hair healthy in the summer. Apply before going into the sun, throw it in your beach bag, and comb through again after swims. For a homemade version fill an empty spray bottle with water and add a tablespoon of 25 SPF sunscreen or higher. Shake well. Spritz wet hair and scalp. Comb through evenly.

WATER: Carry a water bottle with you and fill it up multiple times. Add lime for flavor and vitamin C. Proper hydration is important for keeping your energy up, staying focused, and building a strong immune system.

SUNCYCLE STUDIOS GYM PASS: Suncycle offers a variety of spin-fusion classes that incorporate strength and cardio training. Aerobic exercise on the spinning bike is low-impact, which allows you to get maximum results without compromising your joints. The strength portion of the workout is done with dumbbells, kettle bells, suspension bands, boot camp-style exercises, or kickboxing, and varies depending on the instructor. Another fun option is the outdoor “Sunset Spin”, every Tuesday night for the next 8 weeks. One hour a few days each week will keep your body and mind in check for summer!

DISPOSABLE FRESHENING TOWELS: Keep a pack in your bag. Perfect for a quick refresh in the office, on the beach, or after a workout!

UV PROTECTIVE GEAR: Over-exposure to ultraviolet rays can cause a number of serious health complications. Along with sunblock, use a UV protective hat and beach cover-up. Also, choose sunglasses labeled “UV400” for maximum protection against harmful UVA and UVB light.
