Rockaway Rugby Plays Cup Event

Rockaway Beach Rugby played in the Elementary School Pool representing Scotland, on Saturday, June 8th. After Hurricane Sandy forced a new location with limited practices, the team had a terrific showing at the tournament; The 6th Annual Rugby Cup which was played at Randall’s Island.

After a chess-like first game, the Rockaway team endured some bumps and bruises during the round-robin games, getting to the top seat in the Plate Playoff.

The team kept their composure and averaged five try’s per game throughout the Single Elimination Playoffs, earning the Plate Championship Trophy! Every player did a tremendous job supporting each other with positive encouragement and camaraderie.

In keeping with the Play Rugby USA culture, the children were a showcase of integrity by honoring the other teams, coaches and referees.

Organizers extended congratulations for a job well done to players and coaches!
