Post-Sandy Rebuilding Conference

Sandy impacted residents are invited to a Post Superstorm Sandy Rebuilding Resources Conference on Tuesday, June 18th.

Presented by COH-Coalition Of Hope, the free conference will take place, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the MoMA PS1 VW Dome at Beach 94th Street near Shore Front Parkway.

Invited Guests will include New York city-wide and Queens community organizers, Queens Chamber of Commerce members and key community leaders, such as homeowner and civic association presidents, including non-governmental organizations and faith based organizations that have been providing ongoing assistance to impacted communities in the Rockaways and other areas.

Attendees hear from leading public agency representatives and key stakeholders regarding rebuilding, environmental and health resources which would enable residents and businesses owners to better understand the recently approved City of New York’s Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) action plan.

Topics will include FEMA updates, rebuilding, safety, health, environmental and housing recovery, environmental issues and mold remediation programs, protocols, and best practices.

Also covered will be the NYC Mold Program, including how to apply; beach dredging, sand replenishment, rebuilding community beaches and parks as well as presentations from the NYC Small Business Solutions Center, Small Solutions Business Center and on the Community Development Block Grants (CDBG).

Building Resiliency (“Building Back Better”) for Future Disasters will be addressed by NYC Special Initiative for Rebuilding (SIRR) and FEMA will cover flood insurance as well as the new flood zone mapping.

Coffee and beverages will be provided throughout the day and lunch will also be served.
