Life After Sandy Exhibit In Brooklyn

Lillian Gerson, familiar to many who’ve seen her pedaling up and down the boardwalk selling fruit in the summer, is more than one of the hardest working people in Rockaway. She’s an artist, too. Gerson has opened a show in Brooklyn about life in Rockaway after the storm. Her work can be seen at A.I.R. Gallery in Dumbo until June 23rd.

The full description follows: Rock Jetty Deli & Food Corp documents and processes the complicated emotions of life in the Rockaways in the days, weeks, and ongoing months following Hurricane Sandy. Through scavenged materials and handmade objects, the exhibition brings attention to the small yet powerful moments of beauty that emerged from the storm’s destruction.
