Kearney Graduates Rockaway Scholars
They were among the 71% of the class who received scholarships valued at almost $22 million.
Shannon Biscaino (St. Camillus) received the Presidential Scholarship to Marist College, NY, the Dean's Merit Scholarship and the Blue and Gold Level 1 Scholarship to West Virginia University, WV and the Arrupe Scholarship to the University of Scranton, PA. She will attend Villanova University, PA in the fall.
Patricia Buell (St. Francis de Sales) received the MSMC Award to Mount Saint Mary College, NY and the Xavier Award to the University of Scranton, PA. She will attend Iona College, NY in the fall, with the GAEL Scholarship.
Elizabeth Cardinale (Blessed Trinity Parish) received the Academic Achievement Award to St. Francis College, NY. Elizabeth will attend SUNY at Dehli in the fall.
Emily Dripchak (Blessed Trinity Parish) received the Centennial Scholarship to Marywood University, PA, the Faculty Scholarship to Paul Smith's College, NY and the Rosemont Scholarship to Rosemont College, PA. She will attend Johnson & Wales University, RI in the fall with a Presidential Academic Scholarship.
Christina Gallo (St. Francis de Sales) received the Presidential Academic scholarship to Johnson and Wales University, RI. She will attend the Culinary Institute of America, NY, with the CIA Dean Scholarship.
Lisa Pulkoski (Saint Francis de Sales) received the Academic Achievement Award to St. Francis College, NY. In the fall, Lisa will attend the Santa Barbara City College, Santa Barbara, CA.
Kasey Robertson (Blessed Trinity Parish) received the Academic Achievement Award to St. John's University, NY and the Scholastic Achievement Award and the SJC/CSJ Awards to St. Joseph's College. In the fall, she will attend Iona College, NY with the Heritage Scholarship.
Caroline Strehle (St. Francis de Sales) received the Merit Tuition Scholarship and the Merit Residential Scholarship to the College of Mount Saint Vincent, NY, the Leader Scholarship to Le Moyne College, NY, the Presidential Scholarship and the Catholic High School Scholarship to Marymount University, VA, the Albertus Magnus Scholarship to Providence College, RI and the Academic Achievement Award to St. John’s University, NY. Caroline will attend the University of Scranton, PA in the fall with the Loyola Scholarship.
Also among the graduates was Lauren Towey, who will be attendcontinued ing St. Joseph College, NY in the fall.
In reviewing the accomplishments of the Class of 2013, Sister Thomasine, Kearney's principal, noted: "We are very proud of the scholastic accomplishments of this class. These young women have worked very hard, focused on their college goals and achieved their personal best.
“Guidance counselor Anne Kelly and Ellen Burti, Kearney's college and careers counselor, worked very hard with the girls, to insure that they would receive the recognition they deserved for their academic achievements. These young women are certainly going to make a difference in the 21st century."
Bishop Kearney High School, a private Catholic secondary school, is owned and operated by the Sisters of St. Joseph and staffed by both religious and lay people in a co-operative effort to educate young women of Brooklyn, since 1961.
