Photo by Dan Guarino Well-known contemporary fine art and landscape photographer, Steve Giovinco spoke at a one-of-a-kind Rockaway Artists Alliance meeting at the MoMA PS1 VW Dome on Monday, June 10th.

Giovinco shared many of his unusually captivating works. Most were shot at night using only natural light sources, such as the moon or far away streetlights, giving the effect of the images quietly emerging from the darkness.

He also discussed what he described as his intuitive approach to photography and answered questions from the group.

Giovinco brought with him a large number of his most recent night landscape photographs, titled "Between."

The Rockaway Artists Alliance meets on the second Monday of every month, starting at 7:30 p.m. Their next meeting will be on Monday, July 8th at the T-7 gallery building at Fort Tilden.

Past RAA presenters have run the gamut from artists and musicians to naturalists, historians, cake decorators and psychotherapists.

General meetings are open to all.
