Right About Cuomo

Dear Editor,

I just wanted to send kudos to both Wave Editor Kevin Boyle for his accurate and eye opening editorial last week, and Betsy Lograno, whose "letter to the editor" was truly accurate and on target. I agree 100 percent with Ms. Lograno and Mr. Boyle regarding the restoration of Rockaway after Sandy and the way our politicians have dealt with the restoration and know that countless others share my view. We must also remember that before the hurricane, Governor Christie was adamant that residents along the Jersey Shore had to evacuate and they respected his judgment and evacuated. No doubt, that saved countless lives. In Rockaway, I read that the senior care facilities were told at the last minute by the Department of Health that it would be safer for their residents to remain rather than evacuate. Rockaway was fortunate that those elderly citizens didn’t meet with the same fate that the nursing home residents in New Orleans had when they lost their lives when the waters rose. Rockaway didn’t lose too many lives during the hurricane, but one life lost is too many. If the Mayor and Governor had been as verbal as Christie was in New Jersey, NO lives would have been lost. It’s not only Governor Slo-Mo, it’s more like Governor No-Mo!
