Winners! Stan’s Pepper Steppers And Mrs. Brown’s Jumpers


The Pepper Steppers and Mrs. Brown’s Jumpers join with their high skipping counterparts from Japan for a group photo. On Saturday May 11th, the Pepper Steppers World Champion Double Dutch team from Sorrentino Recreation Center in Far Rockaway, along with Junior teams, also world champions, the 6th grade Mini Steppers and S.A.S.F. (Sports and Arts in Schools Foundation) 5th and 4th grade Mrs. Brown’s Jumpers, won the 2013 New York State Double- Dutch League Championship.

The tournament was held at Law Enforcement and Public Safety High School in Jamaica.

The Pepper Steppers won titles in the 6th Grade and Open Divisions, while Mrs. Brown’s Jumpers brought home titles in the 4th and 5th Grade Divisions Singles and Doubles Team.

Both groups competed hard against seasoned teams from the five boroughs, Long Island and Albany. These victories now qualify them to represent New York State in the upcoming American Double- Dutch World Invitational Double- Dutch Championship. The event will take place from June 13th to June 15th at the University Center in Sumter, South Carolina.

Team organizers offered their special thanks for the support and contributions from the Far Rockaway and Brooklyn communities, the team members, family, friends and supporters of the Pepper Steppers and Mrs. Brown Jumpers.

The Sorrentino Recreation Center is located at 1848 Cornaga Avenue in Far Rockaway.
