Students from the Rockaway Waterfront Alliance’s Shore Corps program went to Harvard University on Monday, May 13th, to present their film "Rockaway Stories."

They were personally invited to present their work by Harvard's Urban Planning Professor Joyce Klein Rosenthal. Rosenthal conducts a class of Graduate Urban Planning with students working on projects which focus on areas affected by Storm Sandy. Many of these graduate students addressed issues in the Rockaways, so she felt both groups of students would benefit from sharing their work.

The RWA student’s film was warmly received by the graduate faculty, students and panel of experts who were there for the graduate presentation.

After the presentation the students were taken on a tour of the campus where they were able to learn more about campus life.

"This is such a special opportunity for the students and since all the RWA students are still in high school, hopefully the visit will inspire one of our own to work hard so they can someday go through the doors of this prestigious university," said RWA Executive Director Jeanne DuPont.
