Idea Day At PS 207 Leads To Another Idea
One of the ideas from "Idea Day" was to initiate a Spirit Week at PS 207. With that as the goal, different events took place each day during the week of May 20th to celebrate the spirit of the school. One of the events was called the "Around the United States Door Decorating Contest."
Each class chose one of the 50 states to portray. The culture, music, food, famous people, state history, state motto, famous sites, flag, tree, bird, flower and state map were explored by each class. The classes then decorated their classroom doors and surrounding wall areas with their research, thereby presenting their information with the rest of the school.
Students then toured the school building, "visiting" all of the 50 states, and learning all about each of them.
Finally, there was a "door decorating contest" where the classes with the most creative portrayal of their state's culture were judged. The judges were the students of the Idea Club, the student with the winning "Idea Day" entry, and members of the faculty.
Everyone in the school were winners as everyone "won" an ice cream day. And everyone also "won" by having fun learning about the 50 states in our United States. Instead of handing out prizes to the winners, the school sent $250.00 to the Moore, Oklahoma school district, as a "pay it forward" donation to help them in their time of need.
