Returning The Favor

The tornado that ripped through Oklahoma is yet another reminder that life is precious and Mother Nature is a force that we have to contend with. It’s also an event that reminds us that when disaster strikes you must rely on your family first, neighbors second, community third, and eventually government and maybe large outfits like the Red Cross. Maybe.

After Sandy we saw local groups respond better than the “professionals.” Our experience tells us that if you are inclined to donate – and we hope you will – please consider researching local groups in Oklahoma and send them your donation. One place to start is the website: www.cityofmoore.com You can find contacts for police, fire, churches, and specific tornado relief information.

We think Team Rubicon is another good option. Lastly, find out if local Rockaway groups who helped so much after Sandy are raising money or collecting supplies to help the people in Oklahoma – they’ll make sure the donations go to the people who need it.

Rockaway still needs help but we can’t forget that we got a huge amount of help from strangers. It would be a good thing to return the favor.
