In Their Words: The Voices of PS/MS 114 Students

Writing The Storm—The Students Of PS/MS 114 Make History

My dear students, years from now your stories and poems will be considered an essential chronicle of the time Superstorm Sandy hit The Rockaways. You will be regarded as "historians.” I believe the great Roman philosopher Cicero, himself, might have dubbed you, “witnesses of the times.” People will quote you, and even misquote you—but, you will never be forgotten. Your work is a gift for posterity. Your voices will echo across the centuries whenever Sandy is remembered. I want to thank you for your courage, commitment and creativity. With all my love and pride, Your Devoted Writing Teacher, Joan Diehl
