Bringing together images, words and music, the Rockaway Artists Alliance presented two events this weekend on Sunday, May 19th.

“RAA on Jamaica Bay,” the group’s first exhibition since the hurricane, opened with a reception at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge in Broad Channel.

Besides enjoying the artwork, guests were entertained by a short play Yarrow Regan, a literary reading by Carolyn Ruschefsky and music by Dan Guarino. Amanda Francin and Susan Hartenstein, along with Regan and Guarino, took impromptu parts in the play.

The exhibition will be on view at the Refuge’s Visitors Center through June 23rd. On the same day, the RAA’s Writers Group put on a performance event at the Sip This Café in Valley Stream.
