Swim Strong Holds Water Skills Day

For National Drowning Prevention Month, Swim Strong is holding a day full of fun water skills events.

Swim Strong, a non-profit Queens and Brooklyn-based community swim organization is sponsoring the first annual Rockaway Water Skills Day at Far Rockaway High School, 8-21 Beach 25th Street, on Saturday, May 18th, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be several educational and water skills events taking place including community swim activities, water safety and general safety workshops, a surf clinic, a CPR training workshop, a health and nutrition workshop, a talk by an Olympic swimming champion and kayaking in the bay.

All of the events are free but the group will also be holding a raffle to raise funds for their scholarship program. To register for the events, check out www.theswimstrongfoundation.org/safety-rockaways.
