Man Killed In Far Rockaway Shooting

One man was killed and another was critically wounded in a shooting that took place outside of the Edgemere Houses in Far Rockaway.

Police responded to reports of shots fired outside a building located at 54- 30 Beach Channel Drive on Friday, May 3rd. A shooter approached the two men in the courtyard of the building and opened fire shortly after 8 p.m. The first man, 23, was shot in the left side of his chest. He was taken to St. Johns hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The second victim, a 36-year-old male, was shot three times in the back. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition and was not expected to die.

According to the New York Daily News, friends of the 23-year-old victim, known as Bunky, stated he was just released from prison on Monday, April 29th.

Witnesses told the Daily News that the gunman ran off on foot before speeding off in a dark gray Ford Escape.

The incident is being investigated by the 101 Precinct Detective Squad and the NYPD Homicide Unit.
