Stress & Sandy: Special Therapist Presentation
Rockaway, Broad Channel and nearby communities up and down the coast are no strangers to the stresses brought on by Hurricane Sandy. Even six months later many have questions an.d concerns.
The Rockaway Artists Alliance is opening its General Meeting to all for a special presentation by psychotherapist Marianne Muldoon, LCSW, titled “Stress and Sandy: Coping With Emotional Stress, Including PTSD, In Today’s World.”
RAA stresses this event is open to anyone and everyone who would like to come. It takes place at the MoMA PS1 VW Dome on Beach 94th Street and Shore Front Parkway, on Monday,
May 13th, at 7:30 p.m. and is free.
In a unique interactive format, Muldoon will go into the strains, anxieties and tensions many are dealing with, not only related to the hurricane, but in their everyday lives.
Muldoon, with more than 20 years’ experience in private practice, is a nationally recognized, licensed psychotherapist, Love And Logic Parent Facilitator, and sought after long-distance phone therapist, with a practice in both Lynbrook and Woodmere.
Her specialties include stress management, trauma/PTSD, career counseling/money, addictions, anxiety/ depression and bipolar disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, adult/family and work/couple counseling and also works with adolescents and children.
Graduating with an MSW from New York University in 1993, she has also gained experience at the Adelphi Rape Crisis Center in Garden City, LIJ Medical Center, The Rockaway Youth Consultation Center in Far Rockaway, the Peninsula Counseling Center, Schneider Children’s Hospital, and Wayside Home School for Girls, through the Salvation Army.
As the RAA itself recovers from the hurricane, it has been reaching out through music events, literary performances, art and healing workshops and children’s programs to help the Rockaway community to heal, revive, rebuild and renew.
