What’s In The Water?

The beaches are supposed to open on Memorial Day. We would like to remind the Parks Department that swimming areas should be regularly checked for debris. We understand Parks hired an outfit to scan the ocean floor by boat. We asked Parks if the same company could get close enough to shore to inspect swimming areas. Specifically, we asked if they were checking the low water areas, after the wave break where boats can’t go. Good question, Parks said, we’ll get back to you.

That was a few weeks ago. We don’t know if there is debris in the water now. We do know that entire houses were washed to sea in October. What happened to the sinks, the plumbing, the furniture? Will swimmers make painful discoveries?

Let’s hope the Parks Department is on top of this. And they just forgot to get back to us.
