Pick Ups Still Needed

Dear Editor,

Bags of sand deposited last October and during the winter that I personally removed from my front garden in Rockaway Park were left at the curb by the Sanitation Department last Tuesday’s collection, and again on Friday’s collection.

Sanitation Superintendent informs me, after my 311 complaint that I’m only allowed to have 10 garbage bags removed at one time, and that I was supposed to have received a flyer to that effect. I received no such flyer, and neither did my neighbors.

The Sanitation Department has abandoned me and my fellow Rockaway residents just as we’re trying to clean up the mess.

Is this some form of strike by their workers whose salaries and pensions we citizens pay? Shame on them. The mayor should rebuke them, and fine them, in my opinion.
