Congratulations, Kevin Boyle, on your wonderful and comprehensive editorial on the Sorry Subject of Sandy. It was most informative and I must add, eye-opening. Sure sounds like we can all be up a creek (or ocean) without a paddle, unless our Congressional stalwarts, Sens. Schumer and Gillibrand, can come up with some solutions, especially as concerns reasonable flood insurance— if there can be something done about this—coastline guarding, and flood preventative measures.
I don’t know the percentage of homes in the Rockaways that can be safely raised to new heights, but I am willing to bet that it is very small, and for the few that can, the procedure would be cost-prohibitive.
Again, your hard work shows, as does that of the Assistant Editor Dan Guarino.
