The revitalization of the play area at Lanette Playground at PS 197 on Beach 9th Street is complete and the area is ready for use. The $2,440,000 project began in May, 2012. It includes a new 8 foot swing set that leaves the previous one strictly for toddlers. In addition there is a new, full-sized basketball court in half of the existing asphalt field, new planting beds, 1964 World’s Fair benches, new steel picket fencing and gates to address access concerns. The entire area has been repaved.

According to a representative at the Parks Department, the comfort station is still under construction and should be completed by the end of the year.
