More Q52 Buses Now!
Once again I got on the Q 52 this a.m. at Beach 67th Street and was pushed and shoved. This is the starting point for this route. When they started running these buses with “some” frequency they were spaced about 15-20 minutes apart. It was utter chaos with people pushing and shoving to get in both the front and back doors.
Phil Goldfeder’s office reached out to the MTA and for about 4 weeks we had buses running 6 minutes apart. The buses were lined up waiting and when one bus was filled – the other came up.
Right after the first of the year – I started to notice a lack of buses. The MTA finally posted a “schedule” Now the buses are scheduled to run 12-15 minutes apart. In the meanwhile people are pouring off of the shuttle train. It appears that more and more people are taking the shuttle from Beach 90th /Mott Ave to the Beach 67th bus stop. No one I spoke with was willing to take the very long and circuitous route through the 5 towns to get to JFK .
In the last 2 weeks – the bus has filled up at the first stop and by-passed every other stop along its route. There’s been Absolutely NO ROOM on them for one more person.
Until we have our train service back – the MTA needs to step up and put the extra buses on both in the a.m. and the p.m. I will leave the complaining about the evening rush service for another letter.
We are paying higher fares all around. They need to realize that the buses are filled to beyond capacity and start putting more on the route.
