“Washed Ashore”At The Dome

The MoMA PS1 VW Dome 2 announces a new creative event. “Washed Ashore: Free Collage Workshop for Kids” will take place on Wednesday, March 27th, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

The Dome itself is located at Beach 94th Street at Shorefront Parkway.

Just in time for Spring Break, “Washed Ashore” is free, public art workshop for all Rockaways school children and families.

Led by Rockaway Waterfront Alliance educator, Keneisha Turner, kids will have the opportunity to create and take home collage murals using shoreline debris collected from the Rockaway waterfront. This will also raise awareness of the coastal environmental issues faced by a seaside community.

No advance registration is required. Participants can feel free to drop in at anytime during workshop hours.

The VW Dome 2 serves as a temporary cultural and community center for the Rockaways which is free and open to the public from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., Wednesday - Sunday, from now until May 12, 2013. MoMA PS1 welcomes community participation at the VW Dome 2. Any organization that would like to schedule an event, should contact Nina Sweeney at nina_ sweeney@moma.org.
