SFDS Dinner Dance: Faith, Family and Friends

More than 800 residents and friends, from Breezy Point, Broad Channel, and Rockaway came out for a night to remember at the Unified St. Frances de Sales Dinner Dance at Brooklyn’s El Caribe Restaurant on Friday, March 8th. The night started off with grace from Monsignor John Brown and live music from The Ed Ryan Band.

After some dancing, Emmy Award winning actor Michael Badalucco of the series “The Practice” introduced Bill Gardell from the hit series “Mike & Molly.”

Gardell did a 45 minute stand-up comedy routine that filled El Caribe with belly laughs that some said could be heard throughout all of Brooklyn.

Sister Patricia Chelsius was on hand, as she has been for SFDS for more than 30 years. One attendee noted that “Sister Pat knows every student at St. Francis by first name. We all know she was happy to see many of her former students at this great celebration of our parish.”

DJ’s Tim and James Tubridy kept the music and high spirits going till 1 a.m.

All proceeds from the evening went to St. Francis de Sales to help the parish rebound from Hurricane Sandy.

Said one organizer, “The really proud part of the evening was to be with so many great people in one room. The night had a certain glow about it that words cannot describe. I’d like to describe it in simple terms: Faith, family, and friends-all together and recognizing we are on the mend after a truly tough 4-5 months.”
