Meeks Celebrates St. Pat’s In Breezy
Congressman Gregory Meeks celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with Enda Kenny, Prime Minister of Ireland, Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, of the Diocese of Brooklyn and the Irish residents of Breezy Point during Sunday Mass at St. Thomas More Church in Breezy Point.
“I am honored to have celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with Taoiseach Enda Kenny, Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, and the great people of Breezy Point,” Meeks said. “Today’s mass served as a wonderful community reunion for many of our neighbors, some for the first time since the storm. I would like to thank Taoiseach Kenny, and the Irish government for their unyielding assistance in the days, and weeks following Super Storm Sandy in our recovery efforts, by sending supplies and volunteers to this area. I wholeheartedly agree with the Prime Minister when he stated that ‘Breezy Point is fighting back,’ and along with the rest of the peninsula will together rebuild and be better than ever.”
‘Taoiseach’ is Kenny’s title in Gaelic.
Since redistricting, Meeks is the sole congressional representative for the Rockaway peninsula and is serving the people of Breezy Point for the first time.
