Make Pols Pay

Dear Editor:

Our government is alive and living well in Washington. In case you are receiving Extended Unemployment Benefits, some of it is going to be taken away soon. In connection with the sequestration, your benefits are going to be reduced by 10.7 percent beginning in April. Now, I have a better idea for Congress and The White House, I suggest that instead of taking that money away from those who can least afford it, it should be taken out of the salaries of Congress and the White House until they get their heads together and work for the general public of this country. They are on all the Sunday morning news programs telling everyone how they are trying. Well, they should stay in D.C. and in their offices, 24 hours a day if necessary, in order to get things straightened out. They seem to forget they are working for us and we pay their salaries, so let’s withhold it until they get this mess straightened out.

On another matter, many are still struggling here in Rockaway to get back on their feet. Everyone has money problems, whether getting reimbursed from their insurance companies, from FEMA, from their banks to fix their houses, and then there are some here who are asking for contributions to fix offices, etc. Please, use some common sense. How can you ask your neighbors to contribute when they have their own problems.
