Before And After
On Sunday morning, October 28th, the day before Hurricane Sandy arrived, members of the Broad Channel Historical Society set up BC’s Veteran’s of Foreign Wars hall on Shad Creek Road.
Carefully laid out for Broad Channel Historical Day are artifacts, books, photographs, maps and other items that detail the area’s vibrant history.
In the wake of the hurricane, the VFW has become a relief center for those in need of food and supplies.
The afternoon of Monday, December 4th, sees residents ‘shopping’ for all kinds of essentials. Completely organized by a group of private citizens, the project relies on no help from government or other relief agencies.
Donations have come from as far away as Texas, Florida and all parts of the country to aid the people of Broad Channel in their time of need.
