According to Susan and Ira Rudin of Belle Harbor, “Our eight-year-old granddaughter, Nicki Kaplan, is a Girl Scout in Louisville, Kentucky.”

As part of their annual cookie drive, Kaplan’s troop, led by Michelle McCarty, decided to donate cartons of cookies to help survivors of Hurricane Sandy.

Said the Rudins “When we returned from our visit to Louisville, we brought three cartons of cookies to the volunteers from Respond and Rebuild who are located at the Arverne by the Bay Community Center on Beach 74th Street and Beach Channel Drive.

“Terri Burnett and Geoff Yenson from the organization were delighted with the gift and assured us that the treats from Louisville would bring smiles to Rockaway residents. “

Nicki’s mom, Elizabeth Rudin Kaplan, is a graduate of P.S. 114, class of 1983.
