Keep Fighting Rockaway

Dear Editor:

Why does Rockaway have such high levels of adult homes, unemployment, crime per capita, nursing homes, mismanaged housing projects, drugs, low income rates, bad streets, bad street lighting, unreliable transportation, bad education?

Why do we have a toll bridge that separates us from Queens? Why did we recently lose Peninsula General Hospital? The City and the power brokers are constantly dumping and neglecting Rockaway. They don’t care. Just look at the statistics. It’s a crime.

Check out some of the comments when it comes to protecting Rockaway and fixing the problems. They blame us for living here. What a shame? They blame us when they’re the ones who dumped on us and ignored us. We are vermin to them.

Council member Karen Koslowitz commented about reactivating the old LIRR line, “Not on our Backs”! Can you believe the attitude? The total disregard to another community which has been carrying Queens and the City on its backs for decades.

Please help us, help ourselves. Get organized, Speak up, Vote, Get involved, Stay United, and Don’t give up!
