RAA Hosts “A Day Of Healing Thru Art”

RAA wants to help heal the Rockaways and Broad Channel, and has invited artists and the community to join in on a Day of Healing Through Art on Sunday, March 10th.

The free event will take place at the Knights of Columbus at 333 Beach 90th Street from 12 to 4:3o p.m.

As stated in an RAA Facebook post, “We have all been affected from the devastation of Sandy and have had so much loss.”

“The act of creating, in any form of art (visual, musical, literary), helps your mind to be in the moment and lets you be able to relax/heal.”

The group is offering a wide array of different art venues all under one roof, so visitors will be able to try their hand at a variety of activities. No art experience is necessary and all materials will be supplied.

Live acoustic music and spoken word performances will also be featured throughout the day.

There will also be an area for children, so that parents can come, freely participate and enjoy the day.

RAA acknowledges that this event would not be possible without the help of many volunteers, the partnership of the Knights of Columbus, NYC Regional Arts in Healthcare, the Brooklyn Watercolor Society, and the support of the community.
