Boo! Better Late Than Never Halloween at PS 114

Halloween arrived a little late at PS 114, coming in just on the cusp of February, on January 31st.

The school’s students, like many children in the area, had their original Halloween celebrations washed out by Hurricane Sandy.

The niece of one of PS 114’s teachers, Ms. Ferragamo, took it upon herself to collect 200 pounds of candy, sending it to the school so kids would not miss out on the festive holiday after all.

The generous donor is a student at St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Seminole, Florida.

For the slightly-delayed celebration of the big day, Ms Ferragamo arranged to have the elementary school children parade in costume down the hall of the middle school. Candy was then distributed by members of the middle school’s National Honor Society.

The school reported that there were many spectacular costumes worn by the students and some teachers got into the spirit too.

The children had a great time and were able to experience a fun tradition that would otherwise have been passed by.
