Noting the scarcity of art spaces in the Rockaways, especially after the Sandy, artist Geoff Rawling decided to create his own.

A longtime community member and former president of the Rockaway Artists Alliance, Rawling started the Geoffitti Gallery, a play on his first name and the word ‘graffiti’, this February.

The gallery currently features his own Media Blend multi-media exhibition in an informal setting and is open to a rotating array of artworks as well as poetry, prose and music performances.

The Geoffitti Gallery is located at 160 Beach 117th Street, apartment 2A and is open every Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.
