“We’re looking forward to coming back to the community and serving our customers with a passion,” said Store Manager Joe Prongay.
Directly hit by Hurricane Sandy, the store has been closed while major repairs were made. Many local employees also had their homes, lives and livelihoods disrupted by the storm.
Local customers were also anxious for its return.
Said Prongay, who was also personally affected, said “A lot of people down here have been through a lot,” including staff and customers. “We’re glad to re-open and bring some normalcy back to the community.
“We’re all very excited to be back!” Waldbaum’s is now one of two supermarkets operating on the peninsula.
