FEMA Centers End Sunday Hours
As of January 30th, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has ended Sunday hours at its Disaster Recovery Centers in the Rockaways, Broad Channel and elsewhere.
FEMA currently operates 17 such centers in Sandy affected areas. They will remain open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. to directly help residents with FEMA claims and other disaster related issues.
Officials say that although foot traffic has recently slowed significantly, more than 145,000 people so far have visited FEMA’s centers across the city they started operations after the storm.
The deadline to register for federal help is February 27th.
