Undersized Team Stretched Too Far

Kings Bay’s Rockaway Sub Novice Squad enjoyed an easy 14 point victory over St. Bernadette’s on Sunday, January 20th, at the Kings Bay gym.

The team quickly opened up a seven point advantage as Dylan Loconte came out scorching hot, shooting 3 of 4 in the first octave.

Peter Maiorano would hit the back end of two foul shots as the quarter ended with Rockaway up 7-nil. Nick Abernathy, James Walker, Freddie Teich, Lenny Mannino, and Mikey O’Sullivan kept the shutout going in the second stanza as their Kings Bay team took the 7-0 lead into the break.

After the half-time rest, Loconte stayed on fire, going 2 for 2 in the third, while Aidan O’ Sullivan continued to grab every rebound, finishing with 7 boards.

Rockaway would take an 11-zip lead into the final quarter.

Luca Perrotta played ferocious defense in the fourth, grabbing two steals from the opponents.

Matthew Glynn sank two foul shots and Loconte would hit another jumper as the team waited for the final buzzer to sound in the sweet 15-1 win.

Loconte would lead all scorers, followed by Glynn and Maiorano.

Rockaway’s next game will be on Sunday, January 27th, at 11 a.m. at Kings Bay Gym.
