St. Francis Come and Gone
Understandably the woman who had the statue of St. Francis of Assisi float into her yard during hurricane Sandy would be upset later when it went missing.
But it seems to me that the small miracle in the storm here was that he arrived exactly when she needed him. He, the patron saint of animals and, as it turns out the environment, brought her comfort. She and her dogs were never truly alone through that dark night and all the days that followed.
And then, when she was able to get going again, tend her own garden so to speak; when seemingly he was no longer as needed, almost without a whisper, he was gone.
As they say, “God works in mysterious ways.”
On Earth as it is in Heaven, and in the Rockaways, too.
