“Magic, Music and Munchies” In Rockaway
Operation Sandy Relief from Syracuse, NY, along with the Hudson Valley Helpers, Rockaway Recovery and the 100th Precinct Community Council are hosting the “Magic, Music and Munchies” event this Saturday, January 12th, from 1 to 3 p.m.
The family oriented event will take place at the Martin De Porres School’s outdoor field on Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Beach 112th Street.
On hand will be Virgil the Magician, whose act brings his audience right into the show, often with participants plucked directly from the crowd. Said Operation Sandy Relief’s Brian Borchik, “Virgil came to me (and said) he wanted to put on a show for the residents of the area. (He’s) performed all over the U.S. and other countries…and when he said he wanted to do this for the community, I knew we had to set this up.”
Borchik added, “He has an excellent mix of illusion and comedy that works for audiences of all ages and I am sure it will be a fun experience for the community.”
Bringing the “Music” will be the Silly Dilly Band, a multi-talented group with strong ties to the community. Stage and recording artists with their own CD, “Come Out And Play”, they will be performing their unique blend of high energy, interactive music for the entire family.
Organizers are expecting a large turnout for their event.
The Martin De Porres School is located at 140 Beach 112th Street in Rockaway Park.
