Propane Safety Check

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy the Starlite Propane Gas Corporation is conducting mandatory system inspections with all its customers. In a letter sent directly to those using their services, the Bayshore based compa-ny has advised this safety check will be done at no charge to them.

Along with other damage, hurricane flooding and tide surges mangled gas lines, lifted propane tanks, some as tall as 5 feet, off their bases and left many scattered all over the area.

Starlite is a major supplier to Broad Channel and other areas. As there are no natural gas lines running to the area, Broad Channel residents are reliant on propane and specially fitted stoves for cooking and oil or electric for heating.

Customers are advised to call Starlite at 718-805-1976 to make an appointment. As their letter concludes, “Your safety is very important to us.”
