Sanitation Please Stay

Dear Editor:

I was handed a flyer that said the Department of Sanitation would be resuming regular pick up after the first of the New Year. I know the Sanitation has done an unbelievable good job but now is not the time to go back to things as they were. People have been busy with holidays and some people are living out of Rockaway and can only get back when they can. Some people did not tear down entire walls because they were waiting on insurance companies. There are a host of reasons why houses have not been totally emptied out yet. In some cases mold returns and more walls have to be removed.

I am asking our representatives Eric Ulrich and Phil Goldfeder to ask Sanitation to hold off. People are moving as fast as they can and it’s important that our streets be kept clear. We are already dealing with tolls going up. Can’t we at least get a break with Sanitation? They’ve been great but we need them for a little while longer. Councilman make the call!
