Same Old Bums

Dear Editor:

How did you like the New Year’s Eve show put on by our elected officials concerning the Fiscal Cliff? I believe it is more than an outrage that a miniscule (portion) of the population can leave 360 million Americans holding their breath wondering what is going to happen to them when they should have been celebrating the coming of the New Year? Will 12 million people depending on an unemployment check be left to find another way to feed, or not feed, themselves and their family?

One Senator always amuses people with his outrageous statements and that’s Frog Face Mitch McConnell. He was the first one to holler about the Fiscal Cliff being addressed at the last minute instead of months ago. Wasn’t he the one that said his only goal was to make sure that President Obama would be a one-term president? Now we saw that he was the one that sealed the deal for the Republicans. Poor Joe Biden had to put on his dancing shoes and face McConnell in the last minute. I hope he brought his gas mask, frog deodorant and smelling salts with him. McConnell also stated that he wasn’t elected by the people to raise taxes on the job creators, but when asked where were the jobs he had no answer.

One has to wonder why the Republicans hate President Obama so much? They have come up with forms of government that I had never heard of. But that’s just me. I thought I had a fair knowledge of government and how it works until we had to go and elect a black president. That changed everything. Now I am learning about Fiscal Cliffs, Debt Ceilings, Payroll Tax Cuts, Sequestration, whatever that is? and who knows what the Republicans will pry out of the woodwork in 2013 in order to vent their anger at our president?

Government is as good as the people in it. We are allowing this to happen. Maybe we need another dose of shenanigans from our elected officials before it sinks in that we’ve been had. For those of us who feel that something should be done this is what I believe. We must organize at a local, grass roots level. We must hold demonstrations at our Senators and Congresspersons offices, Democrats and Republicans. Do everything to spread the word nationwide. Don’t you think there are enough people that are sick and tired of the way our government is conducting itself, or is everything OK and it’s just me that is venting my rage?
