Happy New Year To Most

Dear Editor:

Happy New Year to everyone, except the Insurance Companies. Yes you know who you all are. You are the people who have sent us reams of useless paper, no checks but constant paperwork requesting us to give better content lists. You have sent us seven different payoffs for our automobiles. How about the nonsensical payoff amounts for homeowner damage. Would you believe $351. for a new roof and $16 to repair a front window? I have the paperwork to prove it. I thought I would be in good hands being fully insured for flood by Allstate, what in Gods name was I thinking? Everyone has an insurance story and one is worse than the other. Is there plan to frustrate you to the point of just giving up or maybe having a massive stroke? I have been through two flood adjusters already and counting. My first adjuster made her appointment for the day after Thanksgiving at 7 a.m., she showed up at 9:30. She was very friendly which should have sent out the warning signals. My attorney thinks she either came in with too high a payout or tried to hold them hostage for a raise. My second adjuster came on December 21st a full month after the first. He decided to play the rube from Louisiana, but the rep from my attorney would have none of that. He constantly reminded him that we are dealing with New York and not Louisiana and things tend to be a little more expensive here. I think if Allstate would dump their expensive spokespeople, Dennis Haysbert and the actor who plays Mayhem there might be more money for some payouts. Although you are definitely left with a feeling of mayhem when dealing with these Insurance companies. A note to our local insurance agents, we understand that you all have been hammered by the storm but a few phone calls would not hurt.

Before I finish it is also time for our local officials to step up to the plate. Erich the election is over, you lost time to be our Councilman again. Tell the mayor that it is not time to take away Sanitation removals because people are continuing to have to remove moldy and ruined portions of their homes. Get Mayor Bloomberg to get his ass down here and take another look. While you are at it tell him you want constant monitoring of the ground soil and water for contamination due to home heating oil leakage. Do we not remember the numerous tanks laying in the middle of our streets. To our Assemblyman, Phil we know you are trying but it’s time to man up and get mad, show the powers that be that you have a temper. Why in God's name are we paying tolls to make our numerous trips to Home Depot and Lowes, and until just recently to get gas and do our banking? While you’re at it, ask our illustrious governor what happened to no deductibles and both you and Erich can check into why we have to pay our property taxes when we were told we might not have to because of the storm damage. We elected you to rep us, well it's time to do your jobs. As for the insurance companies a big thanks for nothing!
