Stories From Sandy

By Dawn Pintauro

High water mark on Kim Leib’s home High water mark on Kim Leib’s home My name is Dawn Pintauro and I want to tell you an incredible story.

I am from Breezy Point, a resident until I was 32.

My mother was a year round resident until Sandy claimed her home. Her name is Kim Leib and she owns the Breezy Point Hardware Store.

Since day three after Hurricane Sandy she opened the doors of her store to the people of Breezy Point. Many of the residents thanked her for being there; being there and getting them what they needed to get their homes back in order. We still have a long way to go.

She has been working seven days a week, not getting much done to get her home in order, which was red tagged.

A friend of mine here in the town of Pelham where I now live is a shareholder of a company called Eco Building Products.

I met with a few guys from Eco before Thanksgiving to show them around Breezy because they wanted to help.

Breezy Point Hardware Pre-Sandy Breezy Point Hardware Pre-Sandy The CEO came down Tuesday, met with my mother, did some interviews and then held a meeting in New Jersey Tuesday night. My mother and I attended the meeting and the CEO of ECO Building Products, Steve Conboy, surprised my mother by telling her he is building her a NEW home free of charge and would like to get awareness out about his products and raise funds to give away more homes.

As you can imagine she almost fell on the floor.

I believe this is such a heartwarming story when so much sadness is going on around us.
