Photo by Miriam Rosenberg Continuing an annual holiday tradition, Councilman James Sanders Jr. has allocated each of the schools in his district $50,000 for science and technology upgrades.

Reflecting on the events of the recent past Sanders said in a press release, “Public schools should be a safe haven for our children, and I have made it one of my highest priorities as a Councilman to ensure that the students of my district are safe, and are as prepared as possible to live and work in the 21st Century. That is why I am continuing my pledge to give each school in my district $50,000 to ensure that they are on the cutting edge of science and technology.”

For some schools the money could not come a moment too soon. At PS 106 Superstorm Sandy destroyed all their technical equipment such as computers and smart boards. At PS 43, their hope is to buy additional computers and replace items that were badly damaged in the storm.
