Wind and Sand Don’t Stop Santa Shuffle

Fierce wind kicked up sand along Shorefront Parkway but that didn’t deter more than a hundred Santas as they joined in the second annual Santa Shuffle on Saturday, December 22. Last year’s event was run on the boardwalk and thanks to Hurricane Sandy this year’s shuffle needed a new route. Race organizer John Edwards with the help of the 100 Precinct’s Police Officer Maurice Moore designed the 5k run along Shorefront Parkway from the Irish Circle on Beach 102 Street to Beach 73 Street and back. Video action of the fun run is available on Youtube. Search Rockaway Beach Santa Shuffle 2012. (Photos by Steve Gifford, Duncan Gang, Susan Locke)
