Grants and Loans for Sandy Victims
Neighborhood Housing Services of Jamaica, Inc. (NHSJ) will offer grants and low-cost Home Improvement Loans to Rockaway and Broad Channel homeowners affected by Hurricane Sandy. In partnership with the NYC Rapid Re-pairs Program NHSJ offers grants and low-cost home improvement loans to owners whose homes are currently assessed for repairs beyond power and heat.
Households earning up to 112% of HUD Low Income Limits could qualify for grants up to $35,000 per unit for rehabilitation purposes.
In addition to grants and loans, NHSJ provides construction monitoring and supervision of all projects: home inspections and work-scopes prepared in strict adherence to NYC building codes, paying attention to “green and health” performance based technologies and procedures; qualification of licensed and insured contractors; and monitoring of construction from beginning through completion of rehab. Neighborhood Housing Services of Jamaica, Inc. is a 39 year-old, HUD certified not-forprofit organization providing homeownership education and services to residents in Queens.
