In just three short weeks, Casey O’Connor motivated her home community of Crestwood, New York in Westchester County to hold its first 5K run ever and to donate the money to Rockaway victims of Superstorm Sandy.

O’Connor chose Rockaway because it held a “Plunge for Cystic Fibrosis” to raise money in the name of a young Crestwood girl with the disease.

O’Connor raised more than $22,000, which she donated to the Graybeards, a Rockaway charitable organization that has become one of the seminal organizations on the peninsula.
