Looking For My Dad

Dear Editor,

My name is Anissa Stone. I grew up in Rockaway Beach in the 1970s. My mom and dad split up when I was about 8 years old and my mom and I moved away. My dad stayed in Rockaway. My dad and I lost touch when I was about 12 years old and although it was very difficult, it just became the norm eventually. I am 42 years old now and living in NJ with my two children. After seeing the devastation in Rockaway due to hurricane Sandy, I have been thinking about my father very frequently. I reached out to my last known contacts that may know of his whereabouts but no one has had any contact with him in years. I was hoping perhaps with your wide reach and voice in Rockaway that perhaps you could help. His name is Bill (William) Lewis Stone. He was born on October 3rd in either 1946 or 1945, the son of Mary Stone and brother of George Stone (all of Rockaway Beach). There has always been emptiness inside of me with the absence of my father that I have just gotten used to. With the havoc that this storm has ravaged on my childhood home and memories, it has become quite urgent to me to learn the fate of my father and awakened the hope of somehow reconnecting with him.

Hoping you can find it in your heart to help me.
