Goldfeder Truly Served Community

Dear Editor,

Although I don’t reside in Rockaway, I’ve worked in Rockaway for the past 17 years so I hold the community dear to my heart. Following the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, most of our politicians remained silent. The one exception was Assemblyman Phillip Goldfeder. When FEMA and the Red Cross arrived, he was responsible for directing them to where the need was. On Twitter, he constantly updated when and where food, clothing, shelter, etc., were available. He also provided a phone number to his temporary office which answered when you called it and provided accurate and helpful information. I have never in my nearly 53 years of life EVER seen a politician who cared so much and was so dedicated to the community that he truly “served.” Our mayor, in contrast, told our President to get lost, and now, is saying that it is not in the economic interests of the city to protect the areas that were devastated by Sandy because the event happens only every 100 years. I for one would like to thank Assemblyman Goldfeder from the bottom of my heart and I would hope that he would consider a run for mayor next year. It is clear that he truly cares!
