Better Communication Next Time

Dear Editor,

I have been here in my home in Rockaway throughout the storm and beyond. The communication of services was poor in the early days. I had no idea there were services available at the church on 129th or in Waldbaum's parking lot for over a week.

Now many of us have newspapers, electricity, working televisions and radios. I had NO idea there was a DMV set up at the army reserve building on the way to Breezy. Nor did I know there was a post office there. I went all the way to Massapequa, LI to turn in my plates because I couldn't face going to the Jamaica DMV. I've taken the Q35 several times back and forth to the post office on Flatbush Avenue.

I went to the Reserve Center because my neighbor told me about the Gov. Cuomo grant application available there and then I read it hidden away in The Wave on Saturday.

Better communication, even all these weeks later, is MUCH needed for those of us impacted by Sandy.
